If you are referred to Dr Ward, you will have an initial consultation with her prior to any surgery. Post operatively there will normally be 2-3 appointments in the first 6 weeks, depending on what operation you have.
Initial consultation
Following a referral by your GP, Dr Ward will meet you for an initial consultation to discuss your condition and recommend treatments strategies; both non-operative and operative.
At this meeting, Dr Ward will speak to you about your medical history and answer any questions you may have. She will give you information to take away and read to help you prepare for surgery if it is required.
Please bring any relevant X-rays or other scans to this appointment along with your Medicare and private health insurance details.
Post-operative appointments
Dr Ward will invite you back for an appointment after surgery to check on progress and recovery. The number of appointment and the exact timing of those will depend on your operation. Amber will plan your appointments for you.
After-hours service
Dr Ward’s practice also provides a comprehensive 24/7 after-hours service for patients in need of urgent care. If you are in need of after-hours care please attend the Mater Private Hospital Emergency Department (301 Vulture Street, South Brisbane). The team there will contact Dr Ward for you.
